Our Philosophy

I named the company Karma Works to make the point clear to all with whom I do business, that I believe what you put out in the world is what you get back, you reap what you sow, do unto others and so on. I believe in total honesty in life and in business.

Quality, in my opinion, is the most important part of building a home. I believe that a client’s budget and tastes have to be the guide, but quality should never be compromised for either. Home Building is a liable business and the best way to reduce everyone’s liability is to build with quality. It means less call backs, less maintenance, less worry and higher levels of satisfaction in the investment for all. I try to achieve these high levels of quality by a combination of both myself and my crew doing as much of each project as possible in-house and by employing the best sub-contractors I can find. I rate a subcontractor on two important criteria. I need both the highest level of craftsmanship possible and highest level of integrity. The integrity is more important than many realize. Integrity is what comes into play when there is a problem on a project. Problems are a part of life and of building, but is how a company responds to a problem that makes the difference and not always how low their initial price is. As far as craftsmanship goes, I take personal responsibility for everything that happens on my projects. I do not believe in passing the buck. It is my job to get projects done properly, on time, and in budget. That is what I am hired to do and no one is beyond the scrutiny of my eye when working on my projects.

I would also like to discuss my biggest principle. Organization. It is key to any project to be very organized. This means documentation, regular communication, planning, systems, and follow through on all. It is always the one thing that is not planned for that creates a snag in a project and with custom homes, it is even more critical. A custom home is just that. Custom. It requires intense attention to detail beyond that of a track home or “blow and go,” system builder. Organization has been one of the biggest keys to my success and is the cornerstone of my business.

To summarize, with over 20 years of experience in the construction and home building industry, there have been many opportunities to obtain a well rounded understanding of all processes involved in general contracting and the construction of custom homes. I get a lot of enjoyment out of what I do for a living and I give all I have to it. Each project. Each client. This is how I spend the days of my life. I try hard to make them good ones.
